I just don't get it. Sunderland paid only a million for Bellion in the first place. His transfer value after a very undistinguished season could not have possibly increased and, to top that, because of an admin cock up by Sunderland, we could have got him for nothing....AND YET.. this: > Sunderland have reached an agreement with Manchester United over the > transfer of David Bellion to Old Trafford. > The Division One side had requested a tribunal to sort out compensation for > the transfer of the Frenchman, but the hearing has now been postponed with a > compensation package of 2 million being agreed. > > Bellion joined United in the summer, with Sunderland entitled to a fee for > his services, despite the Frenchman being out of contract. > > The compensation package also includes further build up payments worth up to > 1 million, payable on appearances and international call-ups. > > A sell-on clause ensuring Sunderland will benefit from any future transfer > of Bellion has also been negotiated. > > Sunderland chairman Bob Murray was happy at the deal being sorted. >
