LEEDS V UTD BIG-MATCH FACTS

Leeds v Man Utd (Saturday 1200 BST) Elland Road
Saturday, 18 October Kick-off: 1200 BST Referee: Graham Poll (Tring)

LEEDS UNITED lock horns with Manchester United in a high noon Elland Road Saturday
showdown. The champions travel across the Pennines in search of a third Premiership
win on the trot, and knowing that a point would be enough to put them back to the top
of the table for three hours at least. Leeds, languishing in the bottom five, are
pursuing a third League win of the season.
Under pressure manager Peter Reid ended a traumatic week by witnessing a 2-1 victory
for his side against Blackburn last time out. It was their first League home win of
the season and ended a three-match goalless losing run. Now Leeds aim to complete
back-to-back wins for the first time since the final two games of the last campaign.
The Whites are also looking for a second successive maximum in this fixture. Last
season Harry Kewell's free header from Ian Harte's cross proved enough for victory
against an injury hit Red Devils side.

MANCHESTER UNITED have won six and drawn one of their eight Premiership games. With
just three goals conceded they hold the tightest defence in the top division. They
travel to Leeds on the back of a 1-4 win at Leicester and a 3-0 home success over
Birmingham. Sir Alex Ferguson's side have lost just one of their last 26 Premiership
outings.
The Red Devils' loss on last season's visit to Elland Road was their only defeat to
Leeds in 11 home and away Premiership meetings. There is a certain symmetry to the
League head-to-head count at Leeds. United have won 15, lost 15 and drawn 15 at the
west Yorkshire venue.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy has scored five goals in Manchester United's last three
Premiership and Champions League matches. The Dutchman heads the goalscorers list in
the top division with eight, but he's yet to net against Leeds.
