I think you make some good points here and I too would have reservations about Keane "first up" - indeed perhaps at all. However, I believe that the Keane - Ferguson - Utd dynamics probably differ considerably from those that pertained with the McGuinness - Busby - Utd situation. The dynamics would be more propitious for Keane than for McGuinness I think.
