Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is confident Rio Ferdinand will cope with the pressure of Saturday's meeting with former club Leeds. Ferdinand is assured of a hot reception after becoming a hate figure at Elland Road following his move to Old Trafford. The former West Ham star is certain to come under the spotlight further following his recent drugs test problem, but Ferguson believes he can handle all the tension. "He will be fine. They can't shout any louder than they did last year and he coped with that," said Ferguson. "It's never easy but our record there is quite good and we go there in good form." Ferguson, meanwhile has also backed his Leeds counterpart Peter Reid following all the speculation surrounding his position at Elland Road. "I don't think anyone could do that job better than Peter Reid," Ferguson said. "He's done a fantastic job there. His experience and determination has shown on the pitch." Ferguson also revealed he is going to limit Cristiano Ronaldo's amount of first team action this season to prevent him from suffering burnout. "He needs a rest," said Ferguson. "We won't be using him as much as some people might think in the next few months. He probably won't like being left out, but it will be for his own good in the long run."
