With United however it's anything but. Ponder 2 of our best starts in recent times. 85-86 saw us win 10 in a row in the league & finish 4th. 1991-92 we won 8 & drew 2 of our first 10 and were pipped by Leeds. Contrast that to 92-93. 1 point from our first 3 games & only won our 4th with a late Dion Dublin dinger at the Dell. We were champions in May! Last season we lost 2 of the first 6 taking only 8 points & we were again champions. At Xmas in the 1995/96 season we had only won 12 of our 23 games & had lost 5 times, but were still champs. In the 96-97 season we won 3 & drew 4 of the first 7 & were champions. Of course you can prove/disprove any theory with stats and the 1993/94 season stands out as a season we started like a team posessed & did the double, but I always prefer a slower start. That sounds absolutely perverse and silly, but when we are a point or 3 behind anyone in early March it really puts the s**ts up them. Arsenal's title wins of 1998 & 2002 were both slow enough starts that had late runs and our run last season saw us win 14 & draw 3 of the last 17. You can imagine Fergie in the dressing room in March with a whip, lashing players for being in second place.
