PhD Studentship School of Management Applied Simulation as a Decision Support System Tool to Improve Delivery, Cost Effectiveness and Service Quality in Hospitals
Closing date for applications: 29th September 2006. School of Management is seeking to appoint high-quality PhD student to start his/her study in October / November 2006. This studentship, funded by Postgraduate R & D Skills Programme, is available at Dublin Institute of Technology. This interdisciplinary project involves the study of the internal dynamics of hospitals as an environment of uncertainty, variability and limited resources. The aim is to deliver simulation and optimisation decision support tool to the healthcare sector to improve delivery, cost effectiveness and service quality in critical areas such as Accidents and Emergency (A&E). This project requires an enthusiastic candidate with interests in management, engineering and statistics. We welcome applications from suitable qualified students from across the world. The full award is open to Ireland, EU and overseas students and covers the fees a tax-free maintenance grant starting at €12,500 per annum. Candidates should possess a first or upper second class honours degree in management, engineering or a related discipline and available for interview in Dublin. The successful candidate must be able to take up the studentship by 1st November 2006.
