However, if you try one of their mirrors with direct FTP then you should be able to always reach them (in fact, isn't that what 'mirrors' are all about?) :) >> and/or directly from the project homepage: >> http://www.sf.net/projects/texteditor-mcc > > SF is an absolutely dreadful site, only those developing would ever visit > it. Why use a Linux site fior Amiga > software in the first place ? SF.net is no "Linux site" like you call it. It is a site for maintaining public open-source projects. And please note that I always upload the release archives _first_ on sf.net and afterwards to AmiNET. And sorry, I don't find it _that_ difficult to download an archive from the website. But of course, you shouldn't use one of our unfortunately unusable Amiga-based webbrowsers like iBrowse. Because sf.net highly depends on CSS and as such you are doomed with our outdated web browsers. >> The archive _always_ contains binaries for _all supported platforms >> (OS4, OS3, MorphOS). Same goes both ways. Sorry, but I want to spend my limited time with something more interesting than creating separate archives just for the sake of the lazyness of some of the users. :-) > People on dial up will not thank you for making them download a lot of data > they don't need nor want. Please seperate the different versions to make > downloading more efficient. Come on, not that old-fashioned "on dial up..." discussion again. Dial-Up is really obsolete and we are in 2007 now where really the majority should have a broadband connection available :-) at least in those areas where AmigaOS might still be of interest, a dial-up connect in not the defacto standard anymore. And then, the archives are not _that_ huge compared to today's sizes. As I said, I really want to spend my time more valueable than separating archives. If you really want to just get the files out of an archive that you really require, ask a friend to download the archive and send them to you :) > Same for YAM, how about having archives with just each executable, how many > times do people need to download exactly the same image set with every > update. At least have the images as a seperate archive :-) Sorry. As I said. My time is too valueable to spend it on separating stuff in every tiny little archive. IMHO this is really a minor issue if an issue at all IMHO. Back in 1993 archive sizes were important, today an archive size of 700k (like TextEditor.mcc is) should really be capable for _everyone_ cheers, jens -- Jens Langner Ph: +49-172-4452254 Rissweg 27b 01324 Dresden [EMAIL PROTECTED] Germany http://www.jens-langner.de/ Visit http://www.amiga.dk/tumult for MUI-related information, especially about MUI custom classes.
