One of the common unsupported assumptions in the discussions around editor
vs. reader preferences is to assume that all logged-in users have
editor-ish behavior patterns.
English Wikipedia has at least four hundred thousand active users a month
(active in the sense that they visit the site), only a quarter of whom
actually make any edit, only a fraction of whom make a significant number
of edits...
It seems very likely to me that the huge majority of logged in users have
usage patterns (and a level of understanding of wiki terminology) more
similar to what we attribute to the average reader.
