Attached is a message I sent to the synce-devel
mailing list asking some general questions about
multisync and synce. I have observed for instance
that the evolution plugin does not seem to be
ximian-connector aware. Is this true? What are the
obstacles to rectifying this? Obviously the prospect
of having a synce conduit all the way through to
exchange is rather enticing.

Note: forwarded message attached.

FWIW, I vote you set the list to
subscribers-post-only.

David, I'm not sure if I should be posting this
question here, or perhaps to the multisync list. But
here goes:

I have a gentoo box with evolution 1.4.5 and
ximian-connector 1.4.5.0.6.1. I think you may see
where this is going.

I also have a toshiba 2032sp, and with some slight
modifications I was able to get synce to work with
it...

- I had to mod ipaq.h and ipaq.c
- I had to mod /etc/ppp/peers/synce-device and change
the connect directive to essentially echo CLIENTSERVER
at the usb device unconditionally.

Anyhow, I get the ppp0 interface up now. I had no
partnerships defined, and the synce-multisync plugin
complains in this condition. So I built a partnership
at the command line, and then defined an
evolution/synce pair in multisync.

I have two problems:

1. I seem to only be able to sync against the "Local"
Calendar/Contacts/Tasks. Multisync ignores the
ximian-connector inspired folders completely, so no MS
Exchange synchronization :( I am sure that this
issue would be best resolved via the mutlisync lists.
But FYI.

2. I seem to be able to sync calendar only one-way,
ppc-to-evolution. Contacts do successfully sync from
evo down to the ppc. However I could not get evo
calendar items to sync down to the ppc. This was a
bummer and I was hoping you might be able to help.

There is a *ton* of stuff dumped to stderr when I run
multisync and exercise the evo-synce pair. Is there
anything in particular I should look for to copy and
paste up to the list, or should I just send it all?

Your help is appreciated,

Rob
