Executive summary: multiple addressbook entries, calendar entriesnot transferred

Error messages : Failed to get first plugin changes: unknown error
Hi,
I started using Multisync yesterday, in an attempt to get my Pocket
Pc and Evloution 2 data in sync. This has proved unsuccessful, to say
the least.
I get multiple (four or five) copies of contacts, and no calendar
entries transferred from
evolution to the pocket PC.
I'm using the current packages (for multisync and synce) from debian Sarge.
I created a pairing:
Ximian Evolution - Synce Plugin. Using this pairing, I managed to transfer data
from Pocket PC to Evolution. However, after making an entry in the
evolution calendar, nothing was transferred back to the pocket PC,
even when I pressed Sync
Browsing my contacts list on the Pocket PC, I see entries duplicated
five or six times, in some instances.
After some time on the system, evolution fails to respond: for both
the evolution<->backup and the evolution <-> Pocket PC I get the
message:
Failed to get first plugin changes: unknown error.
So the question is : What am I doing wrong ?
