I've read on the list that to use sftp ssh key pairs must be setup. I'm having some difficulty in doing this. Perhaps someone can help.
Here's what I've done so far: Desktop: RH9 - OpenSSH 3.5 Zaurus 5600: OpenSSH 3.6.1 (all 3 ipk files, client, server, tools) I can ssh and sftp to the Z just fine. 1) As root, I used 'ssh-keygen -t rsa' on my desktop. This generated two files in my .ssh folder: id_rsa and id_rsa.pub 2) I sftp the id_rsa.pub over to the Z 3) I mv the id_rsa.pub file to /home/root/.ssh/authorized_keys (cause I only have one of these for now) 4) I try to ssh from desktop to Z (as root), but it still asks me for my password and not my *key* password. (I realize that I will need to use ssh-agent, but I haven't gotten that far yet). Could someone help me find what I'm doing wrong, or even better post a step-by-step guide to getting the key pairs set up for the Z? Any help would be appreciated. Regards -- Clint M.
