Can you give me the full package name (rpm -qf libgal-2.0.so.5.0.0) so I 
can try and get the same package from Ximian and reproduce? I just want to 
see if this is a Ximian package version issue or if they just have 
different packages for RH8 and RH9.

It is possible that the packages we built on RedHat 9 won't work on 
ReddHat 8, in which case you'll have to consider building from source or 
creating your own RPM from the source. The other possibility is that we 
could create a source RPM - that would probably work for you (and other 
RedHat 8 + Evolution 1.4 users).
