Ok I fixed the problem. I was playing with a few new toys for my S55 under Mandrake9.2 and found that I had 2 instances lib/multisync one under /usr and one under /usr/local, so I moved all the files from /usr/local/lib/multisync to /usr/lib/multisync and I can now sync my Ipaq with evolution.
