We're now only a few short steps away from doing exactly that with
pilot-link (assuming you want to sync your Palm handheld through iSync to
iCal or the .Mac online server instances).
Right now, you press the HotSync button on Palm -> HotSync launches
on Mac -> calls conduits -> one of these is the iSync conduit which launches
iSync. iSync in turn syncs your Palm with iCal, Address Book and remote
.Mac. Back to HotSync, continuing with other conduits.
pilot-link will probably be replacing the Palm-specific portion of
that process very soon, now that we have native USB support through Darwin
and IOKit on OSX.
