I'm an idiot. It was set to "serial" -- setting it to USB fixed the problem.

Now, however, my Palm tells me the software doesn't support "passworded" palms
-- this appears to be true. I can remove my password, but I'm wondering if
this feature is planned.

Anyway, now that I know that works, as soon as I get the cable for my
SonyEricsson T637, I'll let you know if that syncs.
