This was a problem with the Opie plugin on the initial release of 0.82
that was fixed later that same day with a new source tarball released as
0.82-1.

Looks like the Gentoo ebuild you are using picked up that first version
of the 0.82 opie plugin. Suggest you report this to the package
maintainer.
