Hi,
I'm having some trouble with Multisync, Evolution 2 and a Siemens SL55 via
IrDA on Debian testing. This configuration worked well until a recent update,
however I don't sync very often so I can't be sure when the problem started.
It could have been introduced in debian testing a month or two ago.
The problem initially manifested as duplicated entries in evolution, many
with missing phone numbers. It appears that if I deleted the new entry in
evolution then that deleted the entry on the phone and it would not come back.
If I deleted the old entry (some entries were the same, so I couldn't tell
which to delete), then resyncing would cause the entry to reappear in
evolution.
Now I have no entries at all in my phone and syncing does not transfer any
entries in either direction. Syncing is fast and the log shows "no changes" or
something to that effect (I'm writing from home, while I sync at work).
I have had some success with syncing evolution with the backup plugin, but it
hasn't worked consistently. I was also able to sync a test entry from phone to
a backup and I was able to restore it to the phone after deleting it. Creating
a backup plugin that uses another backup plugin's directory doesn't seem to
work at all.
Changing the evolution end of a backup-evolution pair to point to my phone
does appear to work. The sync takes significant time and the debug output
appears much activity. However nothing ends up in my phone's addressbook.
I've downloaded and compiled the cvs snapshot from 2 days ago but the problem
appears unchanged.
I tried installing libopensync and multisync 0.9, but this doesn't seem to
support IRMC.
I'm willing and able to provide debug support but I'm at a loss as to how to
proceed. I'm still unsure if the problem is in talking to evolution, talking
to my phone, or simply a bug in the syncronisation code in multisync. At first
blush, multisync seems to be ignoring all the entries in evolution that are
not in my phone.

Here is a listing of a sync with the cvs snapshot, you can see me deleting
all the pairs, creating a new evolution-irmc pair and syncing. I've
deleted actual VCARD entries from the middle of the debug. There doesn't
appear to be anything obviously saying that it is attempting to sync things,
it appears to be a dump of evolution and possibly a dump of my phone, but no
syncing. Perhaps I'm missinterpreting it.
