Does anyone know of a roadmap somewhere. This is limited by at least three dependencies and non of them are mainstream.

Multisync works fine, minus contacts, just download the cvs source from multisync.sf.net. You should be fine for evo 1.4.x. I would also suggest an upgrade to evo 2.0.x, don't upgrade for 2.2 what ever you do, there is no plug for that version that I know of.
Also if you do upgrade to evo 2.0.x download this patch (link below) and apply it, or you won;t have any contacts.

I'm running an SL-5500 and SL-6000L with 3.5.2 and don't have any issues syncing. While some bug it's a lot more stable then 3.3.x was every. Faster also.
