I'm out of luck, too. I'm Using the version 0.82-5 (from Ubuntu 5.04, is it current?) and I can't either back up my phone, nor syncronise it with Evolution. The 'Test connection' works sometimes, but not always. Usually the first test goes ok, but the second is failed. When I reboot my phone, the test works again.
My phone is T65 and it's connected via serial cable.
