First of all I wouldnt advise you to go about this from an architectural design
perspective. Im my opinion a Desktop based app would be more efficient and stable to
do barcode scanning solutions. Either ways I am assuming that the barcode scanner
will be attached to machine the webform (i.e. in a browser) will be launched on. In
which case HTML or javascript will not be able to interact with your barcode scanner.
It also depends on the features or toolkit of your BARcode scanner. Some provide
keyboard macro support i.e. The Barcode will be read and and the id/number will be
sent to the keyboard buffer and typed, as if typed by the keyboard. If this is the
case then it might be just be a task of placing the input focus (keyb cursor) in the
text box when you are scanning the barcode. after the number is typed the onchange
events can trigger the rest of the processing on the webform page. **** Having some
experience with barcode scanner apps -> I would strongly advise you to do this on a
LAN based Intranet Webform. ******* If your barcode doesnot support the psuedo
typing feature then you need write a component i.e. activex legacy or activex using
.net which once launched would interact with the barcode scanner using either thje
event system or apis/com controls provided by your barcode manufacture's toolkit.
Hope the above helps
