----------------------------------------------------------- From: Puneet Taneja Message 2 in Discussion Hi Shail, Basically in ADO you call Edit method to mark the rows for editing, then you edit the rows and finally call the Update method to mark the changes as done. In case of adLockOptimistic, as soon as you call the Edit method, the recodset page gets locked and is made unavailable to any of the users who want to make any updations within that page. This lock is released once you finally call the Update or the CancelUpdate method. on the contrary adLockPessimistic, as soon as you call the Edit method, the recodset page is not locked and thus remains available to any of the users to do any updations. The lock is only created when you call the Update method. calling the update method creates a lock, updates the data and finally releases the lock. adLockReadOnly Indicates read-only records. You cannot alter the data. A read-only lock is the "fastest" type of lock because it does not require the server to maintain a lock on the records.
