Hi all,
We have a ASP.NET webservice which call a COM component.
[WebMethod ]
private string InvokeComComponent()
{
string retVal = "";
MyComLib.MyComClass comObj = new MyComLib.MyComClass();
try
{
retVal = comObj.ComMethod();
}
catch(Exception ex)
{
return ex.Message;
}
return retVal;
}
The code ran finely the FIRST time it was invoked on my computer. After
that, (even after restarting/relogging), I am getting a Exception when the
method call to ComMethod() is made. (This same feat was repeated on the
computer of a buddy developer also)
ex.Message was "Server exception".
Also, the system event log shows the following entry immediately after the
failure:
Access denied attempting to launch a DCOM Server. The server is:
{B8B2BF02-6380-11D3-9DC9-00104B7AE428}
The user is ASPNET/PC-P32440,
SID=S-1-5-21-808019535-2084309255-1641158893-1001.
We have made the ASPNET user part of the Administrator group, (to ensure the
failure was not due to rights issue). Besides, we added the impersonate tag
in web.config to impersonate the Computer Administrator using the correct
credentials)
Can any body throw some light on this issue?
Any help is appreciated.
Regards,
Vipul Patel
