Examples: HTTP download: http: // <url> / somefile.zip FTP download: ftp: // <url> / somefile.zip FTP downloads are usually faster than HTTP downloads, but many firewalls are configured to allow only HTTP traffic to flow to and fro. For uploads via a web form, HTTP is used. For direct uploads (either from browser or windows explorer), either HTTP or FTP can be used.
