Hi Balkrisha,

VRML is slightly dated in today's context. The newer version of VRML is X3D. Its based
on standards and www.web3d.org is responsible for the same.
The approach remains the same. You either get a toolkit or IE-Plugin to render X3D
(or VRML) and your program will work with the text files of the same, while your
program's rendering GUI will host the control or the toolkit (either IE i.e.
SHDOCVW.DLL via PIAs having the X3D or vrml plugin loaded OR via usign a toolkit.)
Check out the site:
http://cic.nist.gov/vrml/vbdetect.html
for more information on Plugins, libraries, toolkits etc for VRML and X3D.

As regards the IE plugin, you should be looking for vrml2c.exe (I am sorry about
MSVRML*.exe mentioned earlier, thats wrong) You can get the exe from Win98 installer
CD, or in IE4 and IE5 installers. You might want to try some old PCQuest or CHIP cds
for the installers of IE4 or IE5/IE5.5

On a different note, you can also try out the following:
1. Among the proprietary formats, a newer one is Adobe Atmosphere. You might want to
take a look at that. Adobe Atmosphere is Adobe's product for 3D on the web and not
related to VRML/X3D.
2. TrueVision 3D has a 3D API. You can download trial version at
http://www.truevision3d.com/downloads.php

HTH,
Regards,
Vinil
