Jignesh   Thanks for your response. I have avoided this problem currently thru 
a loop wherein i check the error.if it is deadlock err number(1205) then again 
i try to re-execute my transaction.Now with i am not getting the error. But 
just want to know a better option.   As You have queried about environmental 
issues.Info is as below:         About Isolation Lavel--Default provided by 
SQL2000.     Updates through Update statements in a begin..commit 
transaction.(using Connection,Command objects)     Lock Types--not 
specified.(Default)     The problem occurs for a particular table only which 
has 5.5 lakhs records and consists of 90 fields (most are numeric).        No 
specification provided for the transaction.
