----------------------------------------------------------- New Message on MumbaiUserGroup
----------------------------------------------------------- From: hereiam_always Message 3 in Discussion Hi As you've mentioned that you want to receive the email from local server. You must be knowing that, to receive an email we need to configure POP Server in our Email Client Program (Viz, Microsoft Outlook) (POP - Post Office Protocol), and To Send an email we need to configure SMTP, that's Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. Which can be managed using IIS Snap-in. If you are using Windows Server 2003 Operating System, then you have a chance where you can configure POP Server. Alternatively you can have third party software by which you can configure your system as POP Server. In IIS you can configure you exisiting system as a SMTP Server. If you have done that, you can use it as a SMTP Server, just make sure which sending an email you must specify the FQDN of your system. Note: There are some changes in .NET 1.1 and NET for email handling APIs. for more information please visit http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/WindowsServer2003/Library/IIS/e4cf06f5-9a36-474b-ba78-3f287a2b88f2.mspx?mfr=true http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/8b83ac7t(vs.80).aspx http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36060 Regards, Nilesh Joshi ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/MumbaiUserGroup/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
