Well we all know windows vista takes a lot of resources.well the minimum RAM
needed is 1Gb..but here are some tips to make it run faster even in 512mb RAM
maintaining stability..
1)first and foremost choose the appropriate version of Windows Vista,,do not
install a version that is not needed at all..eg:if you are using a PC for Home
usage..do not install the Windows Vista Ultimate Version .Home Basic is
especially made for that use..
2)After installation Update all your drivers, then by default windows has a
protection module,so better not install firewall etc..its of less use rather,,A
good Antivirus is a must..i would suggest NOD32 and Kaspersky..
3)Remove unwanted applications and disable the services u do not use for
instance :your pc has no wireless card or connection..disable the service..for
this i would Recommend Vista Manager by Yamicsoft,,perhaps the best tweaking
tool out there..
4)disable visual themes ..your Vista already looks great..!remove the annoying
alerts ..waste of time..if u dnt use the Sidebar ..disable it..
5)if u use internet i would suggest IE7 only...Firefox is Good..but IE7's
module is even faster..
6)u can use TCP optimizer by Speedguide.net ..Good for Tweaking Broadband
connections..
7)Turn of Indexing (use Vista Manger)..as it is not needed,,
8)Remove the TEMP files occasionally..or jus make a .bat file to do the job..
9)a lot of junk files are produced while installing any application..(u will
see that 0.5-1.0mb..always keeps on reducing .magic.lolz..not magic indeed..jus
use this Free Application CrapCleaner.its good for removing all unecessary
files..temp.etc..use Ocassionaly
10)Always use Automatic Updates, all the Hotfixes are important from the point
of view of stability..
11)Opening multiple application should be avoided,,,
12)Then again to boost startup remove unwanted application by using
MSconfig..(this is an old trick.)..or use Microsoft Bootvis,,yeah,,Windows
stopped its production..but is freely available now too..its a very handy tool..
13)Remember :Performance over Everything.so try to Switch to windows classic
view.(jus a suggestion)
By using the above tips u can improve your OS performance to some extent.u may
have listened to all of this..but jus reminding,,
a Wonderful trick ..better stick to WindowsXP for now..wait for the Windows
Vista SP1///Windows ..Performance Par Excellence
