----------------------------------------------------------- From: Star_Venkat Message 1 in Discussion DBCC dllname(Free): SQL server is providing an efficient way to free up the dll which is located in the server. Need for dll: DLL are dynamic link library which will be loaded and executed by sql server in the form of extended stored procedure. Once if the dll gets loaded and the need for that dll is over. It gets loaded into the tempdb. Its advisable to remove the dll. DBCC provides an option to remove this dll from the server by specifying the dll name and specifying the keyword "Free". The syntax is DBCC dllname(FREE) Suppose app.dll is associated with xp_app stored procedure. Then, DBCC xp_app(free) will free up the extended stored procedure from the server.
