I am not a ISO 7816-3 expert but the ATR communication is not dependent
of T=0 or T=1. So you should get the ATR even if the reader does not
understand T=1. But I may be wrong.

hangs? If you remove the card you have no "Card removed" message?

I tried with gscriptor [1] and my T=1 card works after selecting T=1
protocol in the Settings/Reader menu. Of course I have a communication
error if I choose T=0 protocol.

I suspect your card is dead :-(

PS: you may have a problem with your mail client. You quoted 22KB of
