hard to say.  I haven't seen that error message in a while.

did you rebuild all of the above software packages?  

Did you build the kernel with pcmcia support?  

That gpr400_cs package was built to *not* use the kernel pcmcia support
and use pcmcia-cs instead.  I have a kernel patch that seems to work
with the kernel-pcmcia support.

There is a newer version (0.9.7) of the gpr400_cs driver on my
website[1], perhaps it fixes your problems?

What platform are you running on?  x86 is my development platform and
ARM (iPaq) has been used with 0.9.7.  I have no reports of the driver
working on other platforms.

For the record, I'm currently using kernel 2.4.18, pcmcia-cs 3.1.33
custom Debian packages.  I have not tried the driver with 3.2 series of
pcmcia-cs.  Maybe try 'downgrading' your pcmcia-cs packages?
