Aside from the fact that this is a prototype for a commercial / government project and I've been slightly less than pleasantly surprised by GemPlus' response to my queries (that is, they do not respond to my queries.)
You might try posting your questions to the OpenCard mailing list (www.opencard.org for a pointer). GemPlus is active on that list and they have provided good support for their readers and cards there.
