I'm trying to educate myself a bit more about smartcards in general, and their various processors in specific, and I have a few ideas of some hobby projects I'd like to build.
However, relying on pre-supplied smartcard operating systems is not in my nature. Is it possible to replace the OS on a cpu smartcard entirely with a custom application, so that no trace of the old bits remain? Who creates smartcard OSen, where do they come from, and how do we know that they don't have any backdoor routines in them? The only answer is to reply purely on open source alternatives, and as far as I can tell, there is no open source alternative sc OS.. just applications that run on top of proprietary systems. Is there a card manufactured by an open source company even out there? Basically, I'm looking for a general purpose smartcard I can use pretty much as a basic computer. Any suggestions as to which cards are the most flexible, direct from the factory? Comments much appreciated, pointers hungrily devoured, etc etc. _______________________________________________ Muscle mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.musclecard.com/mailman/listinfo/muscle
