So my questions are:
1.) How do I find out the manufacturer/card os/general information from the card itself? I assume that this is the place that I would start since it is at the heart of the system. I am currently working on finding out more info about the system that operates the door and tracks access through the door but that is just a database and application, should be straight forward. The only thing I know for sure is that the card is iso7816-4(?); I have the info on this ISO spec and I am reading it today.
2.) Is their a way to backup/restore all the data on a smartcard? This would allow me to have a database of smartcards with a reader writer and would take care of people forgeting their cards. I could issue a temporary card on the spot.
3.) Are card os emulators available? I want to backup all of the data from a card and get it into an emulator so I can add features and functionality to the card. Ideally I would like a software emulator that runs in Linux (Windows is ok if I have to...). But, also, it would be cool to have a hardware emulator that I could could load/test/debug the code that I put on the card over the network and test with the actual card readers (i.e. the door).
I am sure all these are really basic questions, any help would be GREATLY appreciated...
