The PTS negociation failed. the driver returned 264: IFD_COMMUNICATION_ERROR.

We have two options:
- the card rejected the PTS
or
- the driver returns IFD_COMMUNICATION_ERROR even with a good card.
  Maybe the driver always returns IFD_COMMUNICATION_ERROR.

Since the driver is not free software we can't debug the driver.

Can you try to use your card with another reader (with a free software
driver)?  I would recommend a CCID reader. But other readers are fine
also.

If you need a PCMCIA reader have a look at the GemPC Card reader [1].
It is in fact a PCMCIA/Serial converter connected to a serial GemPC
Twin. My CCID driver works with it. I will add it to the supported
reader list after I made enough tests. So feedback is welcome.
