I've got a Dell M60 laptop with a PCMCIA/Cardbus slot and a smart card slot. From the PCI device ID, I guess the chip that controls both is a TI UltraMedia Controller, of which the subject part numbers are representative examples.
TI appears to offer lots of technical detail on these chips, including programming details, but I see no support for TI smart card readers on the MUSCLE web site. Is anybody working on support the the TI chips? If not, is it for lack of resources, lack of data, lack of even a remote chance of success, or something else that escapes my imagination?
I guess I can buy a GemPlus USB reader and just be happy, if that's what has to be, but it sure rankles to have that built-in smart card reader just sitting there consuming power. :-)
Thanks!
