sure know, this kind of hardware comes with its own, very expensive,
drivers, APIs and applications (in many cases not supporting linux).
What information? If it is only data which should be read out, then you
could use such a system like MuscleCard. The piece of hardware would be
a card reader and this one can be cheap with free drivers and free software.
