The thing with the ATR is strange, also the reader protocol, it seems that your card has a problem (what transmission protocol does it use?). Do the following: Stop pcscd (The PC/SC Lite daemon) and execute a pcscd -f -a -d (I hope these switches exist also in version 1.2.0, what this command should do is, run the damon in forground, log to console and display send APDUs.) Insert a card. Now the card should be recognized and an ATR displayed. Try different cards, you certainly have more chip cards in your purse.
