I have a 'working' Gentoo GNU/Linux installation.
Kernel version 2.6.17, and pcsc-lite 1.3.1 are
installed. The card reader is an o2micro with the
ozscrlx driver. Gnupg is installed. I am using an
OpenPGP card also.

I am able to read the card, set and change passwords,
name, sex. But when I attempt to generate keys I get
this error message:

gpg: generating new key
gpg: please wait while key is being generated ...
gpg: key generation completed (56 seconds)
gpg: signatures created so far: 0
gpg: generating new key
gpg: please wait while key is being generated ...
gpg: apdu_send_simple(0) failed: unknown status error
gpg: generating key failed
gpg: key generation failed: general error
Key generation failed: general error
gpg: apdu_send_simple(0) failed: unknown status error
gpg: failed to set `CHV-STATUS-1': general error
gpg: error setting forced signature PIN flag: general
error

Does anyone know what's causing this, or even better,
what the solution is?

Thanks!
