Hello,

Hello,

I apologize for asking this question, but I did not find what I needed
on the Internet. So I'm asking here:

I wish to use a smartcard for GnuPG encryption. I know of this HOWTO

http://www.gnupg.org/howtos/card-howto/en/smartcard-howto-single.html

but it only deals with the case of Linux, and not of MacOSX or BSD
environments. This is probably a BSD/Darwin issue, and not exactly
related to smartcards, but I'd like to know what to do, in section
2.3.1. about udev, hotplug or usbdevfs. I would indeed like to support
my card reader.

You should/shall use the PC/SC middleware to use your GnuPG card (see
chapter 2.3.2. in the doc you are referring to).
Mac OS X already provides the needed infrastructure for generic CCID
readers and some non CCID readers.

You can use the command testpcsc to check that your card reader is
recognised by Mac OS X.

Bye,
