[Replying to my own original post to summarise thread so far]

However the applet binary I downloaded from www.identity-alliance.com does
load once I set the memory limit higher, so that error must be due to how I
compiled my own binary; or due to some svn change between the (unspecified)
svn version used when compiling the binary at www.identity-alliance.com and
the svn revision I was using (286).

you're very lucky to find a binary from identity-alliance.com, I never
find it there, may be there is a secret search engine somewhere...

did you check that te CAP obtained from their site does not contain
a descriptor component as suggested at least twice... looks like you
don't "bother to comment" this point ;)

you are welcome to send me that file in private email.

2. The current svn sources don't compile as-is, due to at least 4 bugs:
Noone has even bothered to comment on this bug.
2.2 common.xml does not set the javac option to produce .class files
compatible with the JavaCard tools (target="1.1" source="1.2").
Noone has even bothered to comment on this bug.

if it miss some required (mandatory) properties or uses invalid
file separators, they are no much comments to do, it's BAD, that is.

if you had fix these issues, you are welcome to post a fix.

2.4 CardEdge.src does not compile with the JavaCard 2.1.1 kit due to a small
bug in the addition of Extended APDU support. Here is my patch:
This patch has been discussed extensively, other bugs in the same original
code lines were found and a new patch integrated in SVN by Sylvain and
Ludovic.

actually Ludovic, but it's pointless.

what is certainly more relevant is to be sure that everyone can found
all required information regarding minimal card requierement, process
to generate and download the CAP, and so on.
if based on your experience, you feel that it is not the case, you
are also welcome to comment the current situation and propose some
enhancements.

Sylvain.
