This looks like the sort of problem I'm experiencing. I saw elsewhere a suggestion that it might have to do with 32/64-bit modes. http://lists.macosforge.org/pipermail/smartcardservices-users/2009-September/000016.html I say this because when I try to run pcscd --debug --forground and plug in a reader, pcscd quits saying that it has received a signal to "switch to 32-bit mode".
