Hello:
I'm trying to make an Omnikey 5321 usb work, and I'm getting these
errors:

I'm running following software versions on a Ubuntu 11.04:
libpcsclite1 1.7.0
pcscd 1.7.0
libccid 1.4.2
Any ideas?
The log says: "Card absent or mute"
Check your card.
Is it inserted in the correct way?
Bye
Yes, actually the reader works fine in Windows with its proprietary driver.
The cards are Mifare Classic 1K and you can find attached the output of
pcscd --foreground --debug --apdu.
Does the card have electrical contacts?
Your Mifare Classic 1K card may be contactless only.
There is also a strange behaviour: the reader accepts cards in two ways:
approaching them to the top of it and inserting them into the slot. Both
ways work fine in Windows, but with pcscd the reader only tries to read the
card if I insert it into the slot. (Is that the result of "The RFID
interface is not supported."?).
Yes.
You need to use a contactless reader within the supported list [1].
Look for "contactless".
Bye

Yes, that was the whole problem. I'm using the proprietary driver then.
Sorry for bothering you.
