Yes, Fedora is a good platform for testing it. Both pcsc-lite and ccid packages in rawhide are updated to latest releases and pcscd has the systemd patches applied. If you wanted to give it a try without installing rawhide, you should be able to get the rawhide pcsc-lite, pcsc-lite-libs, and pcsc-lite-ccid binary packages and install them on F15, just to see how it all works together. On Debian, on the other hand, you could just verify if pcscd WITHOUT systemd still works correctly with the systemd patches applied.
