I'll have a look on this project.

I'm having help of a friend to build a wrapper to PCSC too. We are using JNR to 
access native calls, and building a structure based on javax.smartcardio. It 
looks pretty good until now.

If I have more news about this project, I'll share here.

We just uploaded the first version of the promised smartcard library at 
https://github.com/intarsys/smartcard-io

The goal for the initial version was to provide the lib early. We think you 
understand that this library has been used internally and now has a public 
release within some hours. We will hopefully add and refine stuff in the next 
days and weeks to make this as useful for you as it was for us.

Especially the lack of snippets / tutorial may frighten the uninitiated. In 
this case maybe start at the PC/SC level using 
NativePCSCSystem.get().establishContext(). Anyone familiar with the API should 
be able to work from here.

Waldemar and me will try to give near-time support...
