Actually, the fix should be to SimpleNotificationProducer. It stores
references to the subscription resources that it creates. In
prepareShutdown(), it notifies the consumers that these resources will
terminate.
But, there is no shutdown() method that actually will terminate these
resources. This method should be added, which will go thru the list of
resource references and call shutdown() on those resources, too.
