Follow-up Comment #2, bug #6648 (project muse-el):
proposition: change the code to
(setq url (concat (file-name-directory url)
(file-name-nondirectory
(file-name-sans-extension url))))
This fixes the problem for me. (the url is relative in both cases mentionned
in #1).
In the case this is emacs dependent, my version is 21.4.1
