Follow-up Comment #1:

There exist a simple fix to this problem: simply adding the colon to the
`muse-url-regexp' fixes the problem.

Drawback: Some muse-files that contain references to files with a colon as
its last character will break. Although these are legal files names in at
least some file-systems, these should be rare cases.

Another solution that distinguish hostname and url-path of the URL is much
more winded and also has its drawbacks.

So I propose to stick with the simple solution and add a little complement to
the chapter "8.10 Bare URLs, WikiNames, and InterWiki links" of the
documentation, stating something like:

Note: The implicit link syntax is only appropriate for URLs that contain
directory/file names which do not contain any X characters and may not end in
any of the X and Y characters. With X one of the characters: "]", "[", " ",
""", "'", "(", ")", "<", ">", "^", "`", "{" and "}" and Y one of the
characters: ".", ",", ";" and ":". If the URL contains such a directory/file
name the URL must be enclosed in brackets (see 8.9 Hyperlinks and email
addresses with descriptions).

If the above formulation is awkward, native speakers are called for
improvement - thank you.
