You can mark this citation key with your mouse and call > a RefDB command to display this reference. > OK. refdb/refdb-mode seems already well along the way to being what I want. In muse I'd prefer to use a normal muse link with new syntax, for example [[ref::MILLER1999]] or ref://MILLER1999 but I can write that extension if it doesn't exist.
I'd really like to have feature (2) and (3) above in refdb-mode. Writing more extensive link handling within refdb mode seems a good investment of my effort. This functionality would appear to have general applicability and would give me the essential features I require. I don't know how 'easy to read' references are in refdb-mode as I haven't installed it yet but if it wasn't what I wanted I could modify it. It's working for you so that's an indication that I should be able to use it now without modification. I have a similar situation with org-mode and muse. I prefer org-mode for managing projects and I use file::/.... links between the two subsystems. It works great. > I haven't fiddled with refdb-mode for a while, but if this is a useful > path to follow for your needs, I'll see if I can help. As I say above I think adding some sort of general link handling (also availabie in org-mode) would allow ref-db to solve my immediate needs. I would then be able to simply tackle the tag-indexing problem (including refdb entries) in muse separately and have everything I want. If you felt inclined to add it that would be super but otherwise any tips re how I could most quickly add the functionality would also be great.
