[Apologies for cross-posting]
Anastasia Devana and I are organising a special session on Auditory AR at the
185th Convention of the American Acoustical Society to be held in Sydney from
the 4th to the 8th of December 2023 (https://acoustics23sydney.org/). We would
like to invite you to present your work in the area.
The session is entitled Auditory Sensory Augmentation and covers the use of the
auditory sensory channel to provide new modes of information. As the
technologies related to augmented reality, hearables, and smart glasses
technologies grow and expand there are new opportunities for sensory
augmentation. These include traditional research areas such as sensory
substitution for people who are blind or have low-vision, sonification of data
for improved access and analyses, and also many new hearing possibilities
opened up with smart glasses: real-time translation, navigation, guidance,
situational awareness, emotion recognition, etc.
Contributions are encouraged in, but not limited to, the following topics:
Emerging trends and applications for Auditory Augmented Reality (AR)
Computational Paradigms for Auditory AR
Sonification Paradigms and Methods
Integration of Machine Learning with Auditory AR
Platforms and Tools for Auditory AR
Use Cases and Demonstrations for Auditory AR
Psychological and Psychophysical Aspects of Auditory AR
Hardware advances
Accessibility
Smart Hearables
Auditory Scene Analysis
Procedural Sound Generation
I enclose some detailed submission information below.
Kind regards,
Craig and Anastasia
