For most circuits involving non-linear feedback loops,
number of iterations needed for convergence depends on
signal level (while required accuracy kept constant).

For instance, in Tube Screamer Overdrive circuit, number
of iterations decreases when the signal gets closer to rails.

Of course, it's possible to derive alternative equations to
reach a fixed-step approximation (which -as you pointed out-
is much more suitable for real-time operation).

I totally agree with Urs. Today's market is all about authenticity,
efficiency is just a plus.
